Epoxy Floor And Your Garage
Home Improvement November 27th, 2008A great place for epoxy are those floors that have a high chance of being damaged or stained. This is because of the reason that the epoxy floors are quite strong. They are quite durable and have the power to hold on for a longer time than any other types of floors.
There is not type of flooring that has such high resistance damage as epoxy floor. Besides being able to resist dust and dirt, they also resist to tear and wear. They can be cleaned quite easily. Garages are considered to be one of the most ideal places to apply epoxy floors. And the reason for this is because garage floors have high risk of being damaged to the activities that happen in the garage itself.
To apply epoxy paint on your garage floor is not such a hard task. You only have few steps to follow and you will achive this. The entire epoxy coating process can be divided to four smaller parts. The first part or the first step that one has to take is to etch the concrete. It’s a little step that will help you prepare your floor for the epoxy paint. Clean the floor and do it right before you start with the coating.
One thing that helps with adhesion of epoxy paint is the cleaning and etching, the more you do it, the rougher the floor is. The second step one has to take is too see that the floor is not exposed to moisture. The concrete should be sealed so that floor is free from the risk of moisture which would diminish the efficiency of the epoxy coating.
Correct sealing will help a lot when it comes to bondin epoxy and the floor. When this is done, the coating can then be applied. This can be done by using a brush, roller or even a spray. There will be no epoxy coating bonding if your floor is not dry enough, water doesn’t allow for that action to take place.
Top coat is the last step you have to take. I can’t stress enough the importance of the top coat when it comes to epoxy painting. Do not forget that you should not forget about the top coat if you are aiming to have top resuts for your floor.
